The 2-4 Seahawks play the 3-2 Saints on Monday. Here is everything you need to know when Seattle takes on New Orleans on Monday Night Football.
Of course, Seattle needs a victory to keep their slim postseason hopes alive but so do the Saints. New Orleans is second in the NFC South but a loss drops them two games behind the Buccaneers. The good thing is that if Seattle can win the NFC is so top=heavy currently that Seattle is still in playoff contention.
A loss doesn’t end the season, of course, as there will still be 10 games to play but a win would get Seattle to 3-4 with a decent chance Russell WilsoThe Saints resume their season after their bye week. They enter with a 3-2 record due to a stunning upset to open the season and a fourth-quarter collapse in their first home game. Despite not playing last weekend, they moved into sole possession of second place in the NFC South thanks to a Panthers loss returns in week 10.
The Seahawks come into this game desperate for a win after dropping two straight to fall to 2-4 on the season. With Russell Wilson sidelined after surgery to repair a finger injury, this almost becomes a must-win game for the Seahawk’s playoff chances when you consider they play in one of the toughest divisions in the NFL.
Meanwhile, the Saints come in fully rested after an early bye week with a 3-2 record. New Orleans fans have to be somewhat satisfied with that start when you consider four of the first five games came away from home (Week 1’s home game was moved to Jacksonville due to Hurricane Ida) and the team also dealt with COVID issues and a number of injuries to key players.
The Seahawks are at home with the 12th Man behind them but the fact remains that this isn’t your typical Seahawks team. Wilson and Carson are both on IR, taking your #1 QB and #1 RB out of the mix for the team. The days of the Legion of Boom are over as the Seahawks are dead last in the league in total defense, 28th against the pass and 30th against the run this season. Without Wilson, Seattle doesn’t have the firepower to score enough points to outgun teams given the way their defense has struggled. The Saints are rested and could have Michael Thomas back for this one after he was out the first six weeks of the year. New Orleans is the better team right now and their defense carries them to a victory in this contest.
Prediction: Saints -4.5 , OVER 41
