After Sunday in Week 4, the Las Vegas Raiders have the chance to be just one of two remaining undefeated teams in the NFL. To accomplish that, however, they have a tough task in primetime with their second Monday Night Football game of the season when they travel to SoFi Stadium to take on a division rival, the Los Angeles Chargers.
This should be a fun quarterback battle as both Derek Carr and Justin Herbert have been playing out of their minds this season. Adding more intrigue is the fact that both quarterbacks will have tough matchups as each defense has made huge strides from where they were a year ago.
The Las Vegas Raiders are in the midst of the best start the franchise has had to a season since 2002, as they are sitting atop the AFC West with a perfect 3-0 record. After defeating the Baltimore Ravens, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Miami Dolphins, respectively, the Raiders are one of five remaining undefeated teams in the NFL.The Raiders are coming off a 31-28 overtime win over the Dolphins, giving them their second OT win of the year after a 33-27 victory against the Ravens in Week 1.
The Chargers bounced back from a last-second loss to the Cowboys in Week 2 by beating the Chiefs 30-24 last week. The Chargers are coming off an impressive victory over the Kansas City Chiefs and have started 1-0 in the division. The defense played “bend but don’t break” against that high powered Chiefs offense and it helped create four turnovers while the offense scored four touchdowns.
The Raiders have found a way to win the tight games so far, but I think the Chargers are a more complete team. It will show on Monday night in a well-played game for both sides. It’s nice to see this rivalry taking center stage in primetime while being a meaningful game again.
Prediction: Chargers -3.5
