The NFL is more unpredictable than ever as last weekend set a new parity bar. Jacksonville’s 9-6 upset of the Bills undoubtedly sits atop the list of surprises, but the Broncos nearly shutting out the Cowboys before two late garbage-time Dallas touchdowns and the Browns thumping the Bengals by 25 points on the road certainly qualify as runner-up candidates. We now turn the pro football page and look at NFL Week 10 odds. The slate kicked off Thursday with the Dolphins upsetting the Ravens. Other notable matchups on the docket Sunday include Falcons versus Cowboys, Browns versus Patriots, Saints versus Titans and Vikings versus Chargers. There is also a Packers versus Seahawks showdown in Green Bay that could mark the returns of both Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson to action and a Chiefs versus Raiders divisional battle in desert.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Washington Football Team
The Bucs and the Washington Football Team both had byes last week but in Week 10, we get two well-rested teams and an NFC playoff rematch from a season ago. While the Bucs sit comfortably atop the NFC South, the WFT is down in the NFC East basement.
GThe defending champs are No. 2 in passing offense while the WFT is 30th in the league against the pass. Washington is also dead last in passing offense, which doesn’t bode well once you consider the fact that Tampa leads the league in the rushing yards allowed per game, so they won’t be able to run it much either.
Prediction: Tampa Bay -9.5
Detroit Lions at Pittsburgh Steelers
As we mentioned several times this season, we love to play against the Steelers when they are favourites, and this bets brought money to us in every game we predicted the play against the Steelers this season. Their opponents covered the spread in all those games.
The Pittsburgh Steelers are deserving favourites, with the Detroit Lions still chasing their first win this season, but it is tough to have any confidence in them from a betting perspective.
Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger will miss Sunday’s game after being placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list. Mason Rudolph will start under center for Pittsburgh.
The Lions were off in Week 9 following a disheartening 44-6 rout at the hands of the Eagles in Week 8. The Steelers suit up Monday night to take on the Chicago Bears, with Pittsburgh looking to notch its fourth straight win.
Coach Dan Campbell has started to field some questions about his quarterback situation after Jared Goff turned in a lackluster performance against Philadelphia and took some boos from the home crowd in the process. Goff is averaging a modest 6.5 yards per attempt that’s his lowest since the rookie 2016 campaign he spent in offensive purgatory under Jeff Fisher, and his 8:6 TD:INT is positively pedestrian. In fairness, however, he’s working with what’s likely the weakest receiving corps in the NFL and has also taken 23 sacks. The matchup against the Steelers defense isn’t exactly heartening, considering Pittsburgh’s well-earned reputation for relentless pursuit of the quarterback.
Prediction: Detroit Lions +6.5
Cleveland Browns at New England Patriots
Patriots showed impressive form in the recent weeks and we absolutely looking forward their winning streak to continue today. Both teams are 5-4 but however Patriots seem a lot better then the Browns recently. We definitely will back the in-form team instead of the hot and cold team .
Nick Chubb is in COVID protocol and Kareem Hunt is already out, so that may be the first step in deciding whether you bet this game or not. But if you’re comfortable with Cleveland’s run game no matter who takes the carries, then go ahead and fade the Patriots, another team dealing with RB injuries.
The Browns’ demolition of the Bengals served as a reminder that the Browns are just fine without Odell Beckham Jr., though I’d like to think many of us knew that already. Nick Chubb averaged an eye-popping 9.8 yards per carry en route to a 137-yard day. And Baker Mayfield has time to throw, the decision-making is more than good enough.
Prediction: New England Patriots ML
Seattle Seahawks at Green Bay Packers
We have no idea what the quarterback combination will be, and that makes it tough to pick. Will it be Russell Wilson vs. Aaron Rodgers or Geno Smith vs. Jordan Love or some other combination? The Seahawks had a bye week, but they have lost their last nine games at Lambeau Field.
The Seahawks and Packers can both expect to have their star quarterbacks under center in Week 10, assuming Aaron Rodgers clears COVID protocol on Saturday. But even if he does, getting 4.5 points with Seattle knowing Wilson is back is an attractive proposition.
Before Russ went down, Seattle was the best yards per play team in football and was notably effective in the run game, but things have gone downhill since the injuries to Wilson and Chris Carson. Despite Carson’s continued absence, Wilson’s return restores some much-needed balance because Green Bay must respect that gorgeous deep ball.
Since losing Week 1, Green Bay with Rodgers under center has been nearly unbeatable, Seattle’s defense is top five in EPA over the past month. And the shoddy run defense for Green Bay opens the door for a Seattle cover with Wilson set to return for an offense that is one of the best in the league on early downs this season.
Prediction: Green Bay -3
