The Super Bowl isn’t just a football game, it’s a worldwide pop culture that attracts everyone from hard-core NFL fans to people who’ve never watched a second of football in their lives . The Super Bowl has also become the main event of sports betting and, over the years, betting options for the big game have grown into the thousands – especially when it comes to prop bets.
Many newbie sports bettors will be looking to get in on the action, looking for betting odds on everything from the overall outcome of the game, to the point spread, to the OVER/UNDER time of the national anthem.
Road to the NFL Championship
The 32-team NFL consists of two conferences, the American Football Conference (AFC) and the National Football Conference (NFC). Both conferences are made up of 16 teams each.
These conferences are split up into four smaller (North, South, East and West) divisions of four teams. Each division winner earns an automatic trip to the NFL playoffs (and ends up being the subject of a lot of Super Bowl betting).
The two non-winning division teams with the best record also make the playoffs. These are known as wild-card teams. The playoffs have four rounds total, with the fourth round being the title game, the Super Bowl.
The Wild Card weekend is the first round of playoffs. The third-seeded division winner hosts the sixth-seed wild card and the fourth seed hosts the fifth.
The first and second seeds from each conference receive a “bye,” entitling them to advance automatically to the divisional playoffs, where they compete against the winners of the Wild Card Weekend.
The No. 1 seed hosts the worst surviving seed of the first round and the No. 2 seed plays the other team in the Divisional Playoffs.
The two surviving teams from each conference’s Divisional Playoff play against each other in the AFC and NFC Conference Championship. These games are hosted by the higher seed, with the winners going on to battle it out in the Super Bowl.
Betting strategy
For this betting system, the bettor needs to take into account the team statistics during the regular season and the playoffs of the current NFL season. However, they also need to take into account each of the team’s Super Bowl stats, like how many Super Bowls they have won and when, since the team that has won a Super Bowl within the last 3 years, will have most likely played with the same team that they won with; this keeps the team performance in balance. In order for a betting system to have any kind of advantage they need to be based on something quantitative, i.e. statistics. Basing a wager solely on feeling or data that cannot be repeated, such as team spirit or motivation, will not give a bettor a clear-cut prediction on which team could win the Super Bowl. No matter how confident a sports fan is numbers will never lie to them. This is a reason why betting systems are such an advantage for bettors. Basing a decision of cold, hard facts, such as the overall team statistics, will prove to have a better winning ratio than one based on intuition and instinct. As such, bettors need to get very friendly with the stats during the NFL season. Bettors using certain betting systems have been able to determine whether or not the system has a high rate of success. Betting systems include Handicapping, Stats Systems, and even Point Spread Differential systems. These football betting systems can prove that a bettor using them will have higher chances of picking a winner, than those bettors that simply rely on themselves.
Bettors always have the option of picking and researching their own betting systems. Always remember that these systems are not 100% accurate, so do not assume this of any betting system, and if you ever encounter a system that claims 100% accuracy, it is probably fake.
