The Kansas City Chiefs play host to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday night from GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium in a rematch of their Christmas weekend matchup. The Steelers come in having won two in a row and three of four overall, sneaking their way in based on Sunday night’s Oakland victory. For Kansas City, a slow start to the season gave way to a lengthy winning streak in the middle of the season and they’ve only lost one game in their last ten.
In the first meeting on December 26th, the Chiefs won with ease, taking the Steelers down 36-10. While Kansas City certainly looked like the better team, Pittsburgh hurt themselves with three turnovers and struggled to control possession. The Chiefs raced out to a 23-0 lead at halftime and a 30-0 lead in the third quarter, which was a clear indication that they had taken their foot off the gas in the second half. The Chiefs might not ease up at any point on Sunday night, giving the Steelers quite a bit of work to do.
The two-time defending AFC champion Kansas City Chiefs will look to begin their quest of a third straight conference title when they meet the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2022 NFL playoffs on Sunday Night Football. The Chiefs (12-5), who won the AFC West for a sixth consecutive season, are 15-20 all-time in the postseason. The Steelers (9-7-1), who placed second in the AFC North, are 36-26 in the playoffs.
Kickoff from Arrowhead Stadium is at 8:15 p.m. ET. Kansas City is a 12.5-point favorite in the latest Steelers vs. Chiefs odds from Sportsbooks, while the over-under for total points scored is 46.5.
The first game between these two teams this season ended with a 26-point victory for the Chiefs. For the contest to be even that close it took the Steelers scoring a touchdown with 2:54 remaining on the clock. The Chiefs led 23-0 at the half, and at one point led by as much as 36-3. It was about as one-sided of a game as we have seen this year.
The question now is whether we will see a repeat, or if the Steelers can put up more of a fight. Not that many things have changed but rarely do two games go the same way in the NFL. This is a matchup between two of the best coaches in the NFL, and Mike Tomlin is sure to have some surprises in store for Andy Reid and the Chiefs.
The public loves the Chiefs to cover this double-digit spread tonight, who are 6-2 against the spread in their last eight games and 2-2 ATS when the spread is more than 10 points this season.
The Steelers will give it their best shot, but their offense may be limited with rookie running back Najee Harris banged up. However, they are getting back Juju Smith-Schuster, which is a major addition to the passing game. Pittsburgh is 4-2 ATS in their last six games, but 4-4 ATS when they are road underdog. The Steelers don’t have the players at cornerback to stay with the Chiefs’ wide receivers, making this a relatively easy cover.
Prediction: Kansas City Chiefs -12.5
